Directions


Vocabulary – Set 2 Self Study
Listen to each short passage.  Pay attention to the AWL Focus words, and what they mean.  Then, choose the best paraphrase.  (In other words, choose what you think the speaker will say next, based on the meaning of the vocabulary word.)

Paraphrase: Native speakers often say the same idea twice, but in different words.  This is to help you understand better.  They might use the words:
  • What I mean is,....
  • What I'm saying is....
  • In other words...
  • So,....
  • To put it simply,....
  • Like,....
  • I mean,....
  • Or,.....
